For an easy, fast and healthy biscuits n gravy breakfast recipe, look no further – this Biscuits and Gravy Bake is the answer. It’s got biscuits, golden eggs, rich sausage gravy, and melted cheese. And all that for only 7 Freestyle Points/8 Smart Points per serving!

I am a total breakfast lover! I also love brunch. And I also love brinner! Brinner, aka brupper… Is that a thing? I guess it is now! Seriously, I have shirts that say ‘Make Me Breakfast’ and ‘Pancake Queen.’ Breakfast is my jam! And most nutritionists and diet experts will all tell you it’s the most important meal of the day.

This Biscuits and Gravy Bake is SO GOOD… every single time I eat it, it feels like I’m cheating. I’m telling you, it’s a dream! In fact, it’s so delicious, I’m 90% sure you’ll re-check the points and/or calories because you won’t believe me. But believe me, I have double- and triple-checked the points myself… I swear it’s the real deal!

I liked this the first day, but it was even better reheated over the following week. I counldn’t find the exact size of biscuits, so I went with the smaller—5 biscuit—size. That was plenty and lowered the points by 1. Does anyone know if this freezes well?

This is a staple recipe in our house. My husband loves biscuits & gravy so he’s always requesting this dish. It’s super easy, reheats well which is great for a busy week when you need to grab and go.

    1. I usually do 8-10 eggs whisked well with about 1/4 cup milk and a little salt and pepper if I’m using whole eggs

This is a holiday staple in our home. I’m making it this weekend and wondering if I can make ahead and bake the next morning?

  4. Good morning :)). This is in the oven as I speak! I am cooking through my fridge so. This morning I added som leftover bacon with the sausage crumbles and had a small can of 5 biscuits. Just two of us so I used an 8×8 casserole dish. I had mozzarella cheese. Smells heavenly! Not as light as usual but will be delicious! Thanks Star! All of your recipes are great!♥️♥️

Love this recipe! Making it today but I’m out of egg beaters. Would I just use enough eggs to make the 1.5 cups?

In 2018 my then boyfriend and I had to start doing Christmas without our families and started a new tradition of having this on Christmas morning. He’s now my husband and we look forward to it every year! Such an easy recipe, repeats great and is such a treat to have! Thanks Star!

This one is in my top 5 for sure! I serve it for a weeknight dinner more than I do for breakfast. It’s a recipe I know will come together quickly, and since it bakes in the oven, I have time to get some other things done while it’s baking! I just made it at Christmas, and my family had no idea it was on the healthier side, which is what I love most about Star’s meals- you never feel like your missing out! #top2021

This recipe just screams comfort food!! It’s a fantastic dish to whip up on Sundays and divide up into containers for a delicious breakfast each morning! If you are a working mom like me, fixing breakfast in the mornings is tough while trying to get kids ready and out the door as well. A++++++

I’ll tell you what!…this is major comfort food right here and a super simple recipe. I’m pretty picky when it comes to eggs so it’s a little egg-y, but I will totally make it again. I think next time I will do half egg whites and half whole eggs. Thanks for another yummy recipe!

Delicious. I’m not the biggest fan of biscuits and gravy but I’ve heard so much about this recipe that I had to try it! I made it for my breakfast this week and it tasted even better the next day. Only change I made was using some jarred gravy that I already knew I liked since I’m not the biggest fan of most gravy anyway. I was able to turn this into 4 large and filling servings. I think next time I would add a diced bell pepper while I’m cooking the turkey sausage, just to add a bit of vegetable/color lol. Thank you for posting!

I have been making your recipes for years but I do not like eggs so I keep scrolling past this. But my husband has sent it to me several times now, so obviously he’s hinting! I made it yesterday for breakfast while it looked and smelled great, I wasn’t expecting to love it. But holy moly! It’s delicious! The whole family loved it. The only complaint came from my 6 year old who didn’t like the gooey bites (the gravy!) – so we just gave her edge pieces and she was satisfied. If you don’t like eggs, or are on the fence about making this recipe, DO IT! It’s a new favorite for sure!

This is delish! I love everything about this recipe. It is easy to make, low in WW points and my kids even like it! I am definitely going to make this again and freeze individual pieces to take to work with me. Thank you!

    Hi Star!!!
I just want you to know my family loves this recipe. I can make it every week and they wouldn’t complain. . The leftovers warm up so well, is super easy to whip up, very flavorful, and is a crowd pleaser. Thanks for such a tasty and easy go to recipe.

This was the first recipe I found from the skinnyishdish and it is my go-to recipe! My entire fam, including those picky kiddos, LOVE this recipe. Sometimes we add to the gravy to mix up the flavors with paprika or red pepper flakes, but this is now a staple of our home!

  30. 5 stars
I always make this when I have a breakfast potluck at work and I never come home with leftovers (unfortunately). My coworkers always rave about how good this is and I don’t mind making it because the prep is super easy and it’s so delicious!

Made this tonight…so good!! The gravy makes it I cooked the sausage in advance so I just threw it all together. Kid approved

I cannot rave about this recipe enough. It is a Sunday breakfast staple in my household. Since starting Weight Watchers 3 months ago I was dreading plain eggs and turkey sausage as my breakfast routine. I found this on accident and have been making it ever since. It is the perfect combination of southern comfort feed meets guilt-free tastiness. Absolutely delectable. If you haven’t tried this yet, please do. You won’t regret it. Star, you have outdone yourself again! Thank you for this!

    1. This comment makes me so happy. No one should ever eat ONLY plain eggs and turkey sausage every single day unless they LOVE plain eggs and turkey sausage every day. I’m so happy you found me and this recipe!

It’s hard to choose a favorite recipe of yours but it would have to be this or the chicken bacon bubble up! This breakfast bake has become a Christmas morning tradition. The whole family loves it!

This is a great make ahead for meal prep. I have used it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. So yummy!!! Thanks Star

      1. Whole eggs will change the points only on the Green Plan, but on purple and blue plan it will not. You may also use egg whites in the carton, super good!

  43. 5 stars
This is amazing!!! This recipe is a staple in my house. Star I do have a question, how much sausage would I use if I wanted to use the Jimmy Dean Turkey Sausage crumbles? I know it would change the points, I just wanted to make sure I had the right amount of sausage.

    1. Hi! Use 8 ounches cooked turkey sausage crumbles. I believe the points are the same, but I can’t remember for sure!

  44. 5 stars
This was the first Skinnyish dish I’ve made and definitely won’t be the last. It’s so easy to make and so delicious. You can’t be that!
I can’t wait to try other recipes.

  45. 5 stars
I cannot recommend this recipe enough! I mean, my husband, who does not follow WW asks me to make it every week, even when it’s not apart of the our meal plan!!! Don’t sleep on this one folks!

    1. How many biscuits do you use in this recipe? The other one that I recently made of yours that was amazing used 15. Just want to make sure I use the correct amount before I try this yummy recipe!!

  46. 5 stars
I tried this recipe for the first time a few weeks ago. Delicious! My husband loved it and so did I. He even said the leftovers were better. He looked at me and said “this is awesome”. We loved it so much that I gave the recipe to my mom. She made it and both of my parents loved it!

  47. 5 stars
This is a family favorite! It’s become Christmas breakfast for my extended family and the dish I have to drop off if anyone’s sick. I can’t imagine life without it!

Awesome recipe! Made this morning as a meal prep for the week! Made maple roasted brussels sprouts and carrots to go along with it…sweet to go with the savory…so yummy! definitely a keeper for meal rotation!

This is my absolute favorite breakfast dish! So easy to throw together, and it’s so filling and delicious. Comfort food at its best. I have made this several times to share at breakfast potlucks with my coworkers and they all rave about it as well. It’s also just as good leftover as it is the day of!

I wish I was able to give more than 5 stars because this is lights out the absolute BEST BREAKFAST BAKE IN THE WORLD. I’ve made this atleast 40 times this year (no exaggeration and I HATE EGGS) it’s always incredible. It’s a staple in this house and every single brunch I attend I bring it made pop it in the oven to reheat and WOW ABSOLUTE PERFECTION Total crowd pleaser and awesome macros! Keep doing BIG things Star. Your recipes are amazing!

    1. This is the best review ever. Thanks so much, Kay! So glad you enjoy it so much. You’re the best!

Oh my goodness–this was so good! I was skeptical as I was making it since the layering of the eggs and sausage gravy looked kind of soupy but once I pulled it out of the oven, I knew it was going to be a winner! I wasn’t able to find the same pack size of biscuits so I used the 6 oz. package and the fully-cooked turkey sausage crumbles. Added everything into the WW recipe builder and came to the same amount of points. Can’t wait to have this for breakfast for the rest of the week!

  53. I make this recipe every single time I have overnight guests and it is 100% the conversation of the day! Nobody ever knows it’s a skinny-ish recipe and everyone wants to make it as soon as they get home! Slam dunk. I make it so frequently for myself and my husband at home. He usually isn’t a fan of repeat meals, but he NEVER complains if this is the move!

  54. Star – I have been following you for a while and making many of your wonderful recipes. This one however – Oh My Gosh – it’s unbelievable! I have NEVER commented on a recipe before, but I just had to let you know how much we enjoyed this one. I know it’s older, and noticed that you had also posted it on DrizzleMeSkinny’s site, so I thought you’d enjoy a little (current) shout out about it. Only thing I did differently was to dice up some leftover Turkey Breakfast Sausage Patties (from DrizzleMeSkinny) instead of cooking turkey sausage. Felt so good combining 2 great recipes and giving leftovers new life. THANK YOU for doing what you do! I truly appreciate it!!

  55. 5 stars
Stop what you are doing and make this right now! It is so darn good!
I made this on Sunday to have during the week for breakfast before work. Slices reheat beautifully in the microwave and the portion is huge!
This is definitely going to be in the permanent rotation at my house, and will probably be used for holiday gatherings too.

  56. 5 stars
Love love loved this. I’d never used a packet seasoning for country gravy but it was perfect in this. My kids liked it too!

Hi Star! We make your recipes at home often but this is hands down one of our faves! We keep this in our fridge almost weekly. Once we finish one pan, we then make another. It’s the perfect breakfast for my husband to take to work and for me to pop in the microwave (in home daycare provider). Just wanted to hop on here and say thank you so much for all the time you put into your recipes and thank you for sharing them with us!

    1. Oh Stephanie! Thank you so much for taking a minute to stop by here and let me know. I’m sure you’ve got your hands full with having a home daycare! I hope it’s made your mornings much more delicious and a lot easer. =)

  58. 5 stars
Hi Star, made this dish this morning and it was AMAZING! I couldn’t find the right size for the biscuits so I used the one that has 8 buttermilk biscuits and it turned out perfect. I’m going to try your suggestion for freezing, I have to get it out of the refrigerator so I don’t eat more of it. LOL. Thanks for all you do so we can eat delicious, healthy dishes. It makes our weight lost journey so much easier.

  59. I made this this morning but used leftover breakfast casserole instead of egg beater. I cut it into tiny pieces and dropped over the biscuits. I also added 1/2 cup of the precooked turkey breakfast sausage. It was really good. I’ll have to calculate points. I’m thinking it’s still around 8. My casserole made 8 portions.

I made this recipe today and it was really good! I like that you get all the yummy biscuits and gravy flavor without it sitting super heavy in your stomach (if that makes sense). I would definitely make this again!

Just made this recipe this morning and it’s so good! I didn’t have cheddar cheese so I used light mozzarella and it tasted great! Will absolutely make again. I also love the portion size. Thank you!

    1. Hey there! That’s so weird. I can find lean turkey breakfast sausage at every store in my area (and I’m in a small town!) Have you tried looking near the bacon/sausage section where they have already cooked sausage? Johnsonville makes some that are precooked (and crumbled) and will work in this recipe! If not, can you find links? I’ve seen some people cut up sausage links before too. I hope that hopes.

      1. I found Jennie o Natural turkey sausage. But nothing that says LEAN. is it the same?
        lol

Delicious and so simple! Made this last night and just reheated in the oven this morning before taking it to a work holiday potluck. Everyone loved it and was asking for the recipe! Thank you!!!!

  63. Just had to tell you, I’m a long time follower of you on IG and have made TONS of your recipes but I’ve never commented (BTW they are all INCREDIBLE) BUT… I had to comment on this one! I’ve been seeing it forever and never stopped to make it. Well I made it for dinner last night… AND WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG? I want to eat this every meal of every day! My daughter gobbled it up and begged for seconds, then was sad because she was too full to have thirds and has already requested that I make it a million more times!!

    1. I’m so happy you enjoyed it, Amy!! And thanks for being here for so long. I totally appreciate you!!

  64. Wow! Thank you very much for such a quick reply!
I’ve been loving your recipes, too, by the way.
    Happy Easter!

Did you ever attempt making the Biscuits & Gravy Bake ahead of time — say the night before?

    1. I haven’t made it ahead of time so I’m not sure what the biscuits would do. I think it should be fine, but can’t say for sure. Sorry! I’ll have to try it out soon.

So I made this for the second time tonight. My husband loves it. Tonight I added some diced and sauteed zucchini, mushroom, and 1/2 of an onion. I also added in some dried chives (ok, a lot), and a good amount of hot sauce. So extra tasty with the addition of the veggies. Great recipe – I’m so thankful you shared it!

I made this last night for supper for my family of 4 and my brother and his 3 boys. We had ZERO left of the 9×13 pan. None!! Matter of fact, I didn’t spray my pan very good but the smallest nephew (he’s 2) wasn’t done so I had to scrape the pan for him some more bites that had stuck to the pan!! Thanks for a great recipe and if I could give it 10 stars I would!

  74. Your recipes look great and they seem so simple. My problem is I have trouble finding the ingredients. Both the biscuits and the sausage are not available in my area. Having a hard time finding something comparable to either also.

Thank you for this recipe Star! I made it for the first time yesterday for brunch and the whole family loved it, including my 1 year old and my super picky 4 year old. I’m sure it’ll become a regular at our house.

I was also impressed with how well it warms up the next day, I brought one piece of it with me for breakfast this morning at the office.

    1. I’m so glad the whole family enjoyed, Allison! This always finds its way on the table when I have a lot of different mouths to feed because it pleases even the pickiest of eaters. =)

  86. Would you know what size of gravy package? I found an original country gravy which is 2.64 oz or a peppered country gravy which is only 1.15 oz. :-0

    1. I use the 2.64 ounce Country Gravy one for McCormick. I also use Pioneer Brand from time to time which is 2.75 oz! Hope that helps! I’ll specify in directions, thanks!

I was skeptical because this isn’t something I would normally eat, but I made this for “brinner” tonight after seeing someone post it on Instagram, and it was awesome! I couldn’t find lean turkey sausage so I used chicken sausage, and left the cheese off half to keep my serving at 8 SPs. My husband, who loves all those terrible-for-you-but-delicious breakfast foods, LOVED it!

    1. so very happy you enjoyed it, thanks for the feedback! I’m with your hubs- I love all the terrible for you, but delicious breakfast foods too! haha!

  92. Hi! I made this for breakfast today and while it was delicious it did not “set” underneath but stayed kind of liquidy… could you give me some advice on what I might have done wrong? I tried following the recipe exactly but I must have messed up somewhere! Is it supposed to be a firm texture when it’s cooked? I put it back in the oven for 10 more minutes so hopefully that does the trick.

  94. I have a package of Jimmy Dean’s Turkey Sausage Crumbles in the fridge that I need to use up. I’m going to try this with the crumbles and maybe it will even bring down the SP’s by 1 or 2! 🙂

    1. I’ve used them personally and I know lots of people use them too! I can’t remember for sure, but I think if you use the same amount as the jennie o ones it’s the same points!I hope you enjoy

  96. Made this last night for the family and WOW, we all LOVED it. It is so delicious. I’ve shared this recipe with so many friends telling them they have to make it. I did end up using Grands and the points came out to 12 with the items I used, but I’ve just read your response to the question regarding the biscuit size and will now be on the lookout for those to use next time.
    But this was scrumptious.

  100. Hello Star! Thank you so much for sharing your amazing recipes and your gorgeous little Pepper with us. I was wondering if I could ask about the biscuits you use…I cannot seem to get my recipe down to 8 SPs as the biscuits are registering at a whopping 24 points for 7.5 oz. of Pillsbury Junior Buttermilk (flaky layers) variety. We’ve actually bought several variations and incantations (I had no idea how many until I began looking…wow) and cannot find what you mention using. I’m planning a trip to Wal-Mart this week to check out the Great Value brand to see if we cannot get the point value down. This is also my struggle with your other bakes that include biscuits…they end up being 9-11 points per serving and I end up have to use fewer biscuits which I’m guessing ultimately reduces the overall enjoyability of the dishes. Any advice or guidance you can offer would be so lovely. Thank you again!

    1. Hi Charlene! I do know for sure that the flaky layer biscuit variety is higher in points. I’m guessing they use more butter in the biscuit for the “flaky layer” part. Pillsbury used to make a taller skinny can that is 7.5 oz. Unfortunately in the last year, I have not been able to find them on the shelf. Which is incredibly upsetting to me as I’m sure it has upset other readers. I can tell you that Great Value Brand, Kroger Brand, and an Aldi brand make the exact same tall skinny 7.5 oz can of buttermilk biscuits. All of these cans have 10 biscuits to a can which also makes them unique. I have seen the junior biscuit can at the store, but I never checked the points on those. I did just plug a couple things into my recipe builder though with regular biscuits. If you weigh out 7.5 oz of Pillsbury Grands! southern style biscuits or Pillsbury Grands! Buttermilk biscuits (in the WW app they are shown as 5 Smart Points per biscuit) That will make the bubble ups one point higher. So, Meatball Sub Bubble Up would be 8 Smart Points & Biscuits & Gravy Bake would be 9 Smart Points. Loaded Chicken Bubble Up 9 Smart Points. One thing you could do to reduce the smart points is use a little less cheese in these bakes. I’m a cheese FIEND so I like using a cup of cheese, but they don’t absolutely NEED that much cheese. I hope this helped you a little! I am so sorry. I also hope you can find the great value brand at the store. Let me know how it goes!

      1. Star, you are such a doll to take the time to respond and respond so thoroughly <3 We so very much appreciate it. I will definitely be buying the other brand of biscuits because I do not want to miss out on any of that yumminess! My hubby and I absolutely LOVE LOVE so many of your dishes it's bordering on obsession…at least it's a healthy obsession (Your Chicken Parmesan Meatballs being our #1 go to meal. BTW – We've been buying our bread/rolls in BULK from S. Rosen's and freezing them…that's how much we love to make your amazing chicken parmesan meatball subs from your instagram posts! Aaaand my husband literally eats your marinara like a soup by the bowlful, he loves it that much. It's sooooo bleeping good!) THANK YOU, THANK YOU again for all that you do to make our healthy lifestyle not just more manageable but so much more enjoyable. Hugs to you and yours!!!

      2. Can you please tell us about the bread/rolls you purchase from S. Rosen’s? Are they WW friendly? Which ones do you purchase. Thank you!

      3. I use S. Rosens French Rolls. They are 5 Smart Points each! (Which to me is a good deal for the size) There is a picture of the rolls and the packaging with the post for Chicken French Dips

  104. I apologize for this! It has been driving me crazy all day so I think I finally figured it out. I corrected the gravy to account for the whole package (so now in my app it says 10sp for the whole package), but it was the sausage that was incorrect! In your ingredients it says 8oz of raw sausage but in the notes section it says about 5.5oz per half when it is cooked. I had it still as 8oz when actually it wa only about 5 when I weighed it after I cooked it. So backing it down from 8oz to the actual 5 made me finally get 8sp per serving! Sorry for so many comments today!

    1. Hi Katie! So sorry I did not reply earlier to your message. I took the day away from my computer and phone due to family time! I’m sorry that it got confusing for you and that I wasn’t able to help, but I’m glad you figured it all out. I hope you enjoyed the bake! and on a normal basis, I comment back fairly quick so today was rare. Merry Christmas!

  106. Hi Star, as I input all the ingredients, it is only coming out to 7sp per serving. I think I may be incorrect with the gravy in my recipe builder. In my builder, it says McCormick Country Gravy Mix, Sausage Flavor, 1 1/3Tbsp is the serving size, for 2sp. Is this correct? Otherwise the breakdown of my other ingredients are as follows:

    8oz of Jennie-o breakfast sausage 10sp
Kraft reduced fat mild cheddar 11sp
    Great value buttermilk biscuits 17sp
    Egg beaters 2sp

I would feel more comfortable if it were 8sp!! Just wanted to check on the total gravy points for the recipe as I may be incorrect here. Thank you!

  108. This was delicious! I will definitely be making this again. I baked this an additional 10 minutes because I was not sure if it was done enough or if it is suppose to be a little soupy. Not sure if that is the right word I am looking for that is why I cooked a little longer.Thank you for the wonderful recipe.

  124. Would you know what size of gravy package? I found an original country gravy which is 2.64 oz or a peppered country gravy which is only 1.15 oz. :-0

Wasn’t sure which one I should use an I am prepping this for dinner tonight. Oops
Can’t wait to try this recipe
